Support I LOVE MY HOOD's campaign to bring awareness to the important of supporting children's education in the Dominican Republic!

Who We Are.

I LOVE MY HOOD is a small collaborative of artists and innovative thinkers who believe in the power of community and the importance of empowering the underdogs to create a better world. 

Our work. 

We've been working for the past year or so with local communities and artistic leaders in the Dominican Republic, holding events such as murals, skate jams, Breakin' battles, and music festivals to bring people together and celebrate local cultural roots and international exchange. The out-pour of love and enthusiasm for the I LOVE MY HOOD campaign in the DR has been inspiring and humbling.

We want to take our team to continue the work we have been doing. On our last trip, we started providing schools in need with the basic school supplies that many of the children can't afford on their own. Though we were only able to reach a handful of schools, we were not only able to provide children with school supplies, but also with the essential message that education is an important investment that matters to and affects people from all walks of life.

What We Need.

I LOVE MY HOOD aims to use every penny we make on this campaign towards making our trip the most profound, engaging, and impactful trip yet. There is no true maximum amount of funding we need – what we can accomplish, what events we can hold, and how many people we can reach depends on how much support we earn from people like you!

Our funding goal of $30,000 will cover:

 Notebooks, book bags, pencils, and erasers for up to twenty schools

Community events such as artist collaborations and school visits

Operational costs including staffing and transportation

Art and dance workshops for local communities to inspire and support for empowerment!

Help us make a difference from the ground up.

We have been able to go to local communities to connect personally with artists and supporters who believe in the movement. Every time we return, we are overwhelmed by how much the movement has spread by itself to various communities across the country. 

We at I LOVE MY HOOD believe that true social change must come from within. Our goal is not to come into communities with presumptions about what is best for them. Our purpose is to work with and inspire others to create for themselves and to nurture a supportive environment for those around them.

We hope that the movement will inspire you to explore your own culture and community as well!

Never fear! If we do not make our full goal, our team is determined to make it back to the Dominican Republic. We will make sure that every penny you spend to help us goes directly towards the cause.
